When I first got into this whole blogging business, I was completely overwhelmed with all the opinions out there about the right and wrong ways to start a site. Even when narrowing it down to something more specific, like affiliate or informational sites, there were still tons of varying views about what works and what doesn’t.

This shouldn’t be too surprising to anyone who’s been at this for a while. After all, if everyone pushed the exact same techniques, there’d be no need for various courses, YouTube channels, etc.

Everyone out there seems to have a unique angle, but who’s approach is right, and who’s approach should you avoid? This is a tough question and one that keeps many people from even starting in the first place.

One unforeseen benefit of starting up a blog and YouTube channel for Passive Income Unlocked is that I’ve been able to connect with a lot of other bloggers and publishers, including some who make north of $100k/month.

What I can tell you is this: no one has this business completely figured out. Even among the best of the best, it’s become very obvious to me that everyone is still taking shots in the dark.

This isn’t to say there aren’t certain approaches that clearly work better than others, or that certain techniques don’t yield good results. There’s just no silver bullet, nothing that clearly says “doing A will always lead to B, etc.”

Not having a clear path from A to B to C really holds a lot of people back. Instead of getting started, they try to find the perfect approach before taking their first step.

I was definitely guilty of this early on, spending countless hours on blogs and YouTube videos, trying to figure out the correct path to take to reach my goals. While I learned a lot from all that research, I eventually just had to dive in without really knowing what worked and what didn’t.

This brings me to my point: there are countless ways to build a successful niche site, and it’s okay to get started without knowing all the answers. In fact, you truly won’t have a good feel for what works and what doesn’t until you dive in and get your feet wet.

When I started my first site, I thought I had a good grasp on things. But believe it or not, it took well over a year before I started getting a feel for what actually moved the needle.

What’s great is that because there’s so many approaches that work, you don’t have to have all the answers before you start. In fact, you’re much better off just jumping right in, then making adjustments as you figure out what works best for you.

A perfect approach to building niche websites simply doesn’t exist, and honestly, I’m glad it doesn’t. If there was one, everyone would be doing it, which means there wouldn’t be room for new people to succeed.

I’ve watched many people look for that perfect path, only to end up never publishing a single post. Don’t be that person. Jump in, get started, and narrow down what works best over time.
